The Striders Tuesday Run
What : Five paced groups (target paces are 11:15, 10:15, 9:15, 8:15 and 7:15 min miles) led by UKA qualified Running Leaders, usually with a tail leader at the rear of each group. We co-ordinate four stops so that you can move up or down groups during the course of the session. Our Tuesday sessions are a really good chance to get to know other club members, discuss training tips, etc. Ideal for a recovery run after a weekend race. The slowest group covers around 3-4 miles, the faster groups cover proportionately higher distances so that the stops and end of the session match for most groups. Note that these sessions are not races and not competitive - the idea is to be paced at the target paces by the Running Leader and for you to chose a pace group that suits you and your level of fitness / ability and how you feel on the day. They are great for general training and you can definitely use them to push yourself if that is what you want to do.
Where: Borderville Sports Centre, Ryhall Road, Stamford (or when the Football Team is playing at home we will run from The Cattle Market, which is just on the south side of Stamford Meadows - check on the day or day before under the Running with Striders menu). In the winter we run round Stamford, when the light allows we head out into the countryside.
When: Tuesday, 7pm
The Striders Wednesday Run
Wednesday sessions start with a short warm-up at 6:30pm on the playing field near the Empingham Road car park (100m towards town from the Danish Invader)
The session consists of one or two 5k loops. You can choose to run one or both. You should be able to run consistently for 30 minutes. Paces faster than approximately 14 minute miles (so faster than average walking pace) can be accommodated by adapting the route.
The first Wednesday of every month offers something a little different, still running but a session designed to improve your technique, skills and/or endurance.
Wednesday runs are a natural progression from our Beginners’ Course which takes place in May every year. This coach-led programme aims to have you running consistently for 30 minutes.
Then, in September, we incorporate the 30min to 60min course (approx. 5k-10k) in our Wednesday run. Runners can join us at the start if they want and head off for 5k but the focus will be building up to 60 minutes of running.
Thursday interval sessions
Where: Uffington usually but varies as advised in it's own FB group
When: Every Thursday
What: Structured and progressive timed-based interval and tempo sessions along a a grass track. These are great for building up strength and speed work. We also periodically do hill sessions based around Stamford

The LSR - Long Slow Run
What: Longer distance run at a slower pace, often 9 - 15 miles with variations to suit individuals. Faster runners are encouraged to turn and run to the back of the group every so often, so that the group doesn't get too straggly. Long Slow runs are part of the bedrock for building endurance, especially for marathon training.
Where: Usually Bath Row, Stamford (but please check on our Facebook page as this can vary).
When: Sunday, usually 9am (but times are generally confirmed on Facebook).
